General Assembly of Australia in 2010 buried the 2007 plan to ban women from the eldership.

The General Assembly of Australia in September 2007 voted to sustain, and send down as a remit, an overture from the Presbytery of Sydney South that would, if approved by presbyteries and state assemblies before 2010, have banned women from being elders of the church.

Since then the respective state assemblies and their presbyteries have strongly disapproved of the remit and in 2010 the GAA laid the matter to rest.
